Director's Bio

Matthew Max Mendenhall, originally from Northern California moved to New York City at the age of 20, quickly cutting his teeth, landing an apprenticeship with legendary photographer Richard Avedon and proceeding with creative director Gilles Bensimon at American Elle. These renowned institutions helped mold what is now Mendenhall’s visual dna through Filmmaking and Photography. Best known for his intimate textural imagery, which captures his subjects in a passionate, poetic and honest light.

"Shooting Greetings from Unicorn, California was a “Trip” to say the least. I'd worked with Chris in the past, with The Black Crowes, but this project was different. My storytelling approach was to express CRB’s authentic point of view and the visual exploration of their sensibilities. The independent freedom happening in the music paralleled the creation of this documentary.”
